$3,206 towards $2,000

On April 15th, I will be joining the field for my third Boston Marathon. After venturing to the route each year to watch the race growing up, it recently became a personal goal of mine to qualify and participate annually. Following a finish in 528th place last year, I am hoping to crack the top 500 in April.

As some of you know, I have spent this year volunteering weekly with Tutoring Plus in Cambridge. Established in 1964, Tutoring Plus is a non-profit that aims to advance educational equality by pairing students with one-on-one mentors for individualized tutoring. The program initially began with a group of mothers seeking academic support for their children and reaching out to MIT students, but has evolved into a robust organization working with approximately 200 students annually. More information can be found on their website, or in their most recent Annual Report.

Over the academic year, I've been paired with a 4th grader who attends Cambridge public schools. Working with this student has been a pleasure and highlight of my weekly routine. Unfortunately, he is one of many students in need within the Cambridge public school community. Studies show that students who face an opportunity gap but have a mentor are 55% more likely to be enrolled in college than those who do not. With assistance, organizations like Tutoring Plus can recruit new volunteers and foster additional mentor-student relationships.

I would like to ask for your support to help me raise money for Tutoring Plus, and have a personal goal of $2,000.

Thank you in advance. I appreciate contributions at any level, and your help goes a long way.
